The 11th house
Friends and groups gather in the succedent 11th house. Networks and long-term hopes gain continuity through its accumulating pace in everyday social life.
Friends leave folding chairs stacked inside the entrance of the same community hall before a monthly supper, and a newcomer arrives with someone who's already inside the group. The 11th house holds both connections, the friendship and the link that brought the newcomer in. The chairs get stacked again by whoever is closest to them at the end of the evening.
A membership roster gains familiar names over time, added in different pens, with the old ones left in place. On the same wall, a hand-drawn plan for a hoped-for studio stays pinned through several revisions, and that plan is the other half of this house.
What the 11th house covers
One contact introduces another at a workshop, the number gets saved, and a month later the same name turns up on a volunteer list. Groups and networks work by that kind of extension, where a row of matching shirts at a collection point is the visible end of a longer list. It's visible only in its results, such as an introduction that led somewhere or a name that keeps reappearing on lists nobody coordinates.
Two friends split a bag of rolls at a bus shelter after an errand, and a message confirms when the next gathering happens. The 11th house covers the ordinary maintenance of those links. The bag gets split without arithmetic, and the message gets an answer inside the hour.
Long-term hopes are the separate business of this house. A small wooden model of a hoped-for studio sits above a workbench through repeated revisions. One wall gets moved on the model, and the new form stays. A hope with a physical form outlasts one carried in the head, since the model has to be picked up and moved whenever the workbench is needed.
How the 11th house works
Succedent pacing lets the 11th house keep what it has collected. The same people return to a corner booth at a neighborhood diner, and the circle holds its shape between visits. A food cooperative's directory grows as contacts recur within it. Continuity is the point, since two people who meet once are a conversation and the same two meeting monthly are a circle.
Groups show the same steadiness through repeated membership. The volunteer team wears the same shirts at another collection point, with familiar people taking their usual places along the curb. Membership gets recognized by the shirt, and the shirt gets handed on when somebody leaves.
The 5th house holds the other end of this axis, where the work is signed by one person. A sketch made under a single name belongs there, while the friends who gather to discuss copies of it belong here. Passing the copies around changes what the sketch is doing without changing the sketch.
A busy 11th house and an empty one
At a walking club, a friend waves someone toward the group at the trail marker and makes the introduction on the way over. That greeting can carry several chart functions at once when this house is crowded, since friends and groups are where they all land. Introductions pile up where the 11th is busy, and each of them brings a few parts of the chart along.
Long-term hopes can take the same repeated attention. A savings envelope for a hoped-for workshop receives another contribution and a dated entry, several placements may be at work in that small deposit, and the envelope goes back in the drawer with the entry initialed.
An 11th house with no planets in it still holds its whole social range. With 10 planets spread over 12 houses, some houses come up empty in every chart. Friends still meet at the community garden gate, the roster still gains a name this month, and a new contact still enters the network through someone already in it.
What the rest of the chart changes
A name added to a group list this month takes its coloring from whichever sign holds the 11th cusp, along with that sign's ruler. Anything resident there puts its job into the same social ground. Saturn in the 11th keeps the list short and slow to change, and a new name may wait a season before it goes on in ink.
